SOCIAL: IS VOTING FAIR? IS IT OUTDATED?

Democracy is about having majority votes and government by the people. Therefore, we all vote on our desired candidate. And the principle of our current democratic state say that each and every person is equal. But is it really reflected in the voting system? I think that the voting system is highly unfair. It treats those with the most capacity to benefit society in a way that is unequitable. The voting system of today favors those who have less capacity to benefit the public at large. And these people outnumber those that have a higher ability to do good for society. These people with less capacity, are people who are less fortunate or have no education. This is where the inequity really is. Our current system says that we should all be equal. But in the eyes of law, equality says that in order to be equal we must also equivocally produce the same amount. If we all produce the same benefit to society and we are also receiving the same amount, then I then would say that is true equality. Contemporary democracy is really only looking at one side of the coin. They say that we should all receive the same amount therefore the same vote thus, equality. Current day society has not considered the output of each person. This output is a person’s ability to be able to benefit our society at large. Therefore, our current system is unfair. I don’t know how this is going to pass parliament but I think that votes should be weighted. The weight of these individual votes should be measured by a points based system. This points based system can measure the probability that one could benefit society. Points are then given for a higher salary or even degrees and or positions such as nurse, doctor etc., even business owners who give jobs to the less fortunate can benefit society. I think this is the fair way to vote and I do hope society takes note because the current way it is done is really unfair.
