This theory posits that the student has diligently completed post-secondary studies at an accredited institution of higher learning, however, with this individual’s graduation he or she has decided to produce a paper trail of evidence, supporting evidence, proofs and facts about his or her education and experience progression. According to Boyd, a paper trail is part of the statutory interpretation process (2015). It means that a sequence of works was created over a period of time, in this case a period after graduation. This not only means that the individual can display intent but it also means that the individual has proofs and evidence of self-study. Further, in Law, these works serve as estopples because individuals working under a degree are privy to their professional intent because when the knowledge is published per the Scientific Method, it prevents the Scholar from doing certain things that are contrary to the works of which relate to the intention of the Scholar. The Bar Association expects aspiring Lawyers to self-study before becoming a lawyer as does the College of Physicians with Doctors. In a Masters Degree the student is observed during the progression of their studies by a Mentor. The Mentor must have qualifications under an accredited institution of higher learning by which to ensure that the study that the student is conducting is in line with the provisions of the Panel of Research Ethics. Regardless, in the absence of a Mentor, the WITNESSETH can still occur when the works are published on a public forum ex. COURT SERVICES ONLINE. Further in British Columbia, to request a document obtained by the government from a citizen, a Freedom of Information Request to the institution must be transmitted for documents within the parts of the forum that require higher clearance. The CONSENT of that citizen is also necessary. The works then serve as an advertisement within the publication wherein essentially an AFFIDAVIT can be produced as a result. And in this public forum, per the duration of the activity, a Mentor can emerge. If this is done without a Mentor, the public then becomes the Mentor at a lessor capacity because it is presumed that the public does not have the qualifications that a Mentor would have. This means the works become a part of social justice. And, when a Mentor emerges it becomes a matter of social mobilization because the works are validated and vouched by sophisticated accreditation. It becomes increasingly clear that formal academic works be monitored in some way shape or form by an individual with equivalency or higher credentials so that the works can become social mobilization.
Notwithstanding, the publication of works still then concurs with the ideas of the Scientific Method. The Scientific Method states that when a Scientist is done with an experiment, he or she must complete the final step, which is to publish the findings on a publication resulting in the completion of the scientific process. Regardless, students, whether matriculating into undergraduate studies or graduate studies, students can still attempt to find a Mentor early in their undergrad. By creating a paper trail by which to affirm that the intent of formal studies is an objective, it creates a narrative of the trajectory and planning of the Scholar as it pertains to their profession. This means that, within the process of interpretation of which include: expression unius est exclusion alterius, ejusdem generis and noscitur a sociis (Boyd 2015), when the overall situation is taken into account via literal interpretation, that the Scholar’s decision to firmly support his or her profession becomes increasingly obvious. This also means that when the phenomena is observed that the situation is factored in when legal professionals interpret the context. And, lastly, the intent of the Scholar is widely displayed. This theory states that the subsequent works produced by the Scholar becomes added value to their degree program. In Business added value can be defined as “a saleable commodity that has been enhanced with additional qualities that make it worth a higher price than the raw materials used to make it” (Investopedia 2022). With this theory in mind, this means that since the works have been made available, it becomes a way to display talent and ability- the added value to the raw product that the university provides- the undergraduate or the graduate degree. Having a paper trail of work also creates a method to differentiate amongst other individuals that may have graduated with the same degree or even others. Hence this tackles cost/ price and differentiation.
The works produced by the Scholar must have legitimacy. Having a credentials is part of the process of legitimacy. This means that the individual must have graduated from an accredited institution of higher-level learning. Working under an authority is also another way to gain authoritative legitimacy for the works produced. Another way as explained above is to have a Mentor of some sort, an individual that can oversee the works. An interesting method however, is trying to make the value-added works part of an economy, in this case, the economy within a company where an increase of the worth of the added value and other assets therein results in an increased worth of the companies economy, hence a higher overall valuation of the company. This can be done by binding the activity to a cryptocurrency. Although cryptocurrency is a new phenomenon in the domestic environment, it serves as a means of determining value. Further, works can become NFT’s. With stocks and securities however, the activity can be a means for increasing investor confidence essentially increasing the value of every stock. If done this way however, the Business Model of the company must be adjusted to factor in the activity. Essentially the works can become incentives for doing business with the Scholar. In this however, shareholder primacy always must be adhered to.
THEORY OF THE AUTODIDIACTS
These individuals learn through persistence. Their interest in a subject matter increases as they read, watch, and learn about the subject. These individuals aren’t hampered by standards in the industry or it's schemas. And further they are a blank slate when they enter and when it comes to the discipline. When these people self-educate, they provide a higher probability of a new way of doing something in a discipline, something that perhaps has not been considered before. This process starts via social learning. Individuals observe and learn from whatever the stimuli they hold interest in within the domestic environment. The social learning becomes a means of persistence. Through the persistence, the individual then starts to self- educate. In self-education, the individual explores and the way that they explore is unique and not according to the provisos of a formal discipline. What is important to note however, like above, a paper trail is necessary. The key to self-education is the ability to be able to prove it through substantiative and quantitative measures. The reason by which it becomes necessary to prove self study takes place is because the individual seeks to gain something from their study, whether it be a credentials or a position or something else. The fact that these individuals have a “joy” in what they do, means that there is a higher likelihood of them viewing the discipline as a “toy.” This then gives these people the ability and upper hand to transcend above those with formal educational credentialling because of this view or perspective. This allows them to be high risk takers. In Psychology the act of playing is a means of exploration and discovery but it is also beneath the "work" of which involves high level executive brain functions. The fact that the individual has "played" means that when he or she gets to the "work" he or she has a better ability to weigh the odds because he or she has engaged in familiarity with the discipline. These individuals are what are referred to as autodidacts. Autodidacts are common when something is new. These individuals analyze a phenomenon and create a baseline body of knowledge. There have been some well known autodidacts of which include Benjamin Franklin, Leonardi Da Vinci and Thomas Jefferson. These individuals have all contributed well to society and their study. It is very possible for autodidacts to self issue a CERTIFICATE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT with a seal when they reach new highs within their research. Although in British Columbia, the seal is not enforced by legislation in the way that an Engineers seal has authority, mind you, the governing body that handles Engineers is essentially federally wide and the province of British Columbia is just another province, it then follows that the province under the highest academic authority, an appointed university, universities in the province do not take liability for the actions of their graduates, this then concurs that there is a wider cause when federal corporations or entities are concerned, like the Engineers. It is still necessary as a dignified Scholar to have this in place. It is also necessary under a maxim, Salus populi est suprema lex or Suprema lex salus populi, to have this in place to prevent harms to others as a professional for the interests of the citizen. Further, in the discipline of Engineering, an Engineers seal is used to take professional responsibility and accountability for the contents of the document which concurs with the provisions of that discipline. Essentially, with that in mind a certificate serves as a document of liability/ privilege/ credentialing and a memorabilia by which to value the very nature of education, knowledge. It also serves as an incentive to go further within the study. It is a form of accountability to reward oneself for hard work. It is systemic and methodic to issue a certificate of accomplishment as well because it's a way to measure how far a person has gone within their study. Further regalia and trinkets can be created to commemorate accomplishments. Doing this serves as a symbol of accomplishments.
